The Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA) is an independent corporation responsible for managing the land title and survey systems of BC. These systems provide the foundation for all real property business and ownership in the province.
Our mandate and responsibilities are set out in the Land Title and Survey Authority Act and our Operating Agreement with the province.
Services
The LTSA provides three main services:
1. Land Titles: We ensure the continued integrity of BC's system for registering land titles, and interests in titles such as mortgages and other charges. BC's highly regarded land title registration system provides conclusive evidence of title, and is backed by an assurance fund in the unlikely event of registration error. For more information, please read our Land Title Frequently Asked Questions.
2. Land Surveys: We maintain the quality of the BC's land survey structure, including:
- Working with land survey professionals to establish survey standards
- Approving legal survey plans for public and private lands
- Addressing property boundary issues
3. Crown Grants: At the direction of the province, we issue Crown grant documents which transfer Crown land into private ownership.
