Electronic Filing System Used by 70% of BC Notaries Public
The Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) announced today a landmark milestone - the one millionth land title application processed by its Electronic Filing System (EFS) - at the first annual Residential Real Estate conference jointly held by the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association British Columbia Branch. EFS enables authorized users to electronically submit land title documents and survey plans to the LTSA for registration.
"The mission of the LTSA is to create confidence by delivering assured land title and land survey systems essential to the property market and economic foundation of BC," commented Godfrey Archbold, President and CEO of LTSA. "Technology is essential to fulfilling our mission and to ensuring the good functioning of the property market. This historic milestone is one more step towards delivering on our key commitment to enhance customer service through continuous innovation and business process improvements."
Launched in April 2004 and accessed through BC OnLine, EFS provides BC lawyers, notaries, and land surveyors a number of benefits by enabling the use of the Internet to submit land title documents and survey plans for registration by the LTSA. Advantages of this safe and secure electronic system include ease of use, eco-friendliness, lowered costs, and faster service. EFS also enables registry agents to electronically submit professionally certified documents. As a result, adoption has steadily grown with 70 percent of BC notaries public using EFS today.
"BC's land title registration system is one of the most convenient and efficient in the world. The people of our province can rest assured that the system is secure and provides security of title for all BC property owners," commented Susan Davis, President of the Society of Notaries Public of BC. "BC notaries are proud to be an integral part in the LTSA's one millionth land title application milestone for EFS, and we will continue to work with the LTSA towards their next EFS milestone."
New functionality in EFS available next week adds more than 80 new transaction types. New transactions offered include the ability to submit Certificates of Pending Litigation, Caveats, Land Use Contracts, Injunctions and Transfers of Mortgage.
EFS training and support is available at no charge by calling BC OnLine at 800-663-6102 or 250-953-8200. More information on EFS is available at www.ltsa.ca.
