Introduction
The LTSA's Land Title Registry is BC's official legal record of private property ownership.
The LTSA updates the Land Title Registry each time a lawyer or notary applies to register a change to the registered title, such as when a property is bought or sold, a mortgage is paid-off, or a registrable interest is created or modified.
Subdivision, strata and other land survey plans for titled properties are also deposited in the land title system.
Land Title Division Services
The LTSA's Land Title Offices provide the following services:
1. Examinations of applications, primarily from lawyers and notaries public, to register various land title transactions, such as:
- Land transfers
- Mortgages
- Cancellation of a mortgage that has been satisfied (paid-off)
- Easements or statutory rights of way
- Registration of a subdivision plan
2. Provide copies of land titles registered documents and survey plans.
Fees
Note that fees apply to the services provided by Land Title Offices. Fees are required at the same time documents are submitted or when a letter of request is made by mail. When an application is made in person, fees are payable by debit card, cash or cheque. Please make cheques payable to the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia. Wherever your real estate professional (eg: lawyer, notary, land surveyor, registry agent) provides land title registry services on your behalf, LTSA fees would normally be incorporated in their invoice.
