Crown Grants
A Crown land grant is the legal instrument used to convey a defined interest in land from Crown ownership to private, fee simple ownership. A Crown grant usually contains a sketch of the location of the parcel granted and a description of the terms and conditions of the grant.
The LTSA has a copy of most of the Crown land grant dispositions issued by the various Crown agencies, including the earliest Crown grants issued by the Hudson's Bay Company and the Colonial and Dominion governments.
Almost all BC Crown land grants are available online in electronic form.
The LTSA also retains other types of Crown grants, including mineral Crown grants, Taxation Act grants and timber grants.
