Survey Plans
A survey plan, such as a subdivision, reference, explanatory, posting, air space or strata plan, is a 'map' which delineates the legal boundaries and dimensions of the surveyed parcel, and the type and location of survey posts set in the ground to mark the boundaries of the surveyed parcel.
These plans are prepared by professional BC land surveyors. Each year, over 11,000 land survey plans are submitted to the LTSA for filing and registration.
A wide variety of survey plans are deposited with the LTSA, including:
- Subdivision plans
- Reference and explanatory plans
- Plans of easements and rights-of-way
- Plans accompanying covenants and restrictive covenants
- Posting plans
- Strata plans
- Oil & gas well site plans
- Mining and coal lease plans
- Land Act survey plans
- Air space plans
- Plans accompanying bylaws
- Plans of expropriations

Many of these historical survey plans are available only in hardcopy format. Scanned images of most survey plans registered in the LTSA's Land Title Offices are available for online viewing and downloading through BC Online.
