The Integrated Survey Program emerged in the mid-1960's as a system for establishing an infrastructure of survey control monuments within developing areas. The integrated survey networks provide a standard vertical and horizontal reference system that supports mapping, engineering, surveying and other works. Today, there are fifty-two municipalities in BC that are official Integrated Survey Areas (ISA) consisting of a framework of over 20,000 control survey monuments.

Land surveyors operating within an official integrated survey area are required to tie their legal survey plans to the control monuments. This supports the ongoing geo-referencing of the cadastral fabric.

Online Cadastre provides Internet access to BC Crown land cadastral information including the boundaries of integrated survey areas and the location of geodetic control survey monuments.

We are fortunate to enjoy the benefits of integrated survey areas in so many municipalities within BC. The Integrated Survey Program provides the foundation for geo-referencing activities within these areas today and enables new initiatives like the British Columbia Active Control System to be more easily implemented, providing an enhanced geo-referencing environment.

ISA Plans, Listings and Supplementary Certificates

Plans of integrated survey areas may be viewed in Adobe Acrobat PDF format online or downloaded for viewing and printing offline. ISA plans are accessed by clicking on the appropriate ISA name in the table below. The size of the plan file is listed next to the ISA name in parentheses. The ISAs that have more than one plan covering the area have a note next to the ISA name stating how many plans cover the area - this links to an index map of the ISA official plan coverage for the area.
