As part of their combined effort to provide local governments with resources and tools to facilitate the adoption of ParcelMap BC (PMBC), the Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) recently co-presented with ICI Society at the MISA BC Fall Conference 2018 held in Kelowna, B.C.

Leveraging the theme "Successfully Navigating Change", Brian Greening, Director of ParcelMap BC Operations, and Steve Mark, Technical Coordinator at the ICI Society, were joined by Vanessa Pocock, GIS Coordinator at the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) to present to an enthusiastic group of MISA attendees.

Brian provided an overview of the benefits of ParcelMap BC adoption; the operational currency, quality and feedback loop of the dataset; and how spatial adjustments are handled in PMBC. Steve addressed ICI Society members' access to PMBC and the availability of custom packages. The highlight was Vanessa's presentation about how Whistler managed internal changes for the community's benefit when they chose to fully adopt ParcelMap BC as their primary cadastral layer.

"The RMOW was excited to offer a look at the next chapter in our PMBC adoption story at MISA BC as a co-presenter with the LTSA and ICI Society. Both of these groups have given Whistler great support along this journey, and we were pleased to be able to discuss the benefits of not only these partnerships, but also of PMBC itself with the greater IT community of BC," stated Vanessa Pocock. "As we move into adoption year two, the RMOW is focusing on broader integration of PMBC with our enterprise systems, as well as the continued improvement of layers associated with the parcel fabric. We are also very excited to be a part of the PMBC Adoption Working Group and look forward to learning from and working with our peers as part of the ongoing development of PMBC."

"RMOW was the first municipality in BC to fully adopt ParcelMap BC as their primary cadastral layer," added Brian Greening. "It was a great opportunity for other local governments to learn more about RMOW's experience, their recognized benefits and what they have accomplished since switching to ParcelMap BC. We look forward to working with RMOW and all local governments in BC to advance their adoption efforts."

Vanessa accepted a certificate on behalf of the Resort Municipality of Whistler, presented by Brian Greening, recognizing RMOW's adoption of ParcelMap BC.

"The conference provided a great opportunity for ICI Society to touch base with its members and provide an update on how to access PMBC. It also allowed me valuable face-to-face time to highlight many of the new customizations that can now be included within the PMBC packages," added Steve Mark. "Collaborating with Brian and Vanessa provided the audience with a full story. The ICI Society looks forward to supporting more of its members towards adoption PMBC."

ParcelMap BC integrates over two million parcels across the province, providing a current, complete and trusted visual representation of titled and Crown land parcels in British Columbia. It improves the speed and efficiency of land-related research, planning and business decisions through the current spatial representation of a given parcel and its relationship to adjacent parcels.
