The Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia (LTSA) is pleased to report the ParcelMap BC Adoption Working Group (AWG) held its first working group session on September 19, 2018. The AWG was created in collaboration with ICI Society, and the group is represented by participants from local governments, the Province, land surveyors, and other stakeholder groups who can benefit from adopting ParcelMap BC, the current, complete and trusted electronic map of active titled parcels and surveyed provincial Crown land parcels in BC.

In its inaugural workshop, AWG discussions focused on two working session topics to facilitate best practices for implementing ParcelMap BC:

  1. Alignment considerations and dependencies on third-party datasets, such as ALR lands, First Nations lands, and zoning;
  2. Greater visibility into how candidate areas for spatial improvements are identified and prioritized in ParcelMap BC.

Other topics raised for discussion in subsequent workshops include:

  • Attribute mapping between ParcelMap BC and other parcels (e.g. ICF or ICIS Cadastre);
  • Integration of ParcelMap BC with third-party business software (e.g. Tempest, Vadim, etc.);
  • New ParcelMap BC data products (e.g. live web service).

These ideas will be advanced in the next meeting scheduled for November 21, 2018. Contact the PMBC AWG facilitators at pmbc.awg@icisociety.ca for more information.
