The Director of Land Titles will be updating the types of land title applications that must be filed electronically effective March 1, 2017. Changes include the removal of two of the temporary electronic filing exemptions pursuant to section 168.111 of the Land Title Act. These exemption removals will enable the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA) to continually safeguard the security and reliability of the land title system as more land title transactions are handled online.

Please be reminded that the following changes will take effect on March 1, 2017:

  • Removal of exemption for applications requiring preliminary inspection, as well as their release (all applicants), specifically:
    • Caveats
    • Certificates of Pending Litigation
    • Provincial Expropriations
    • Injunctions
    • Provisional Indefeasible Titles
    • Securities Act Charges
  • Removal of exemption for Form C - Releases for members of the public filing in person (registered owners). Note however that Form C Releases of Claims of Builders Liens are not affected, and can still be submitted by mail or in person at a land title office.
